Eva Marcille Speaks on Star-Studded Stage Version of “Jason’s Lyric”

It is not easy to step into a role made iconic by its previous portrayer. However, it is a role that actress/model Eva Marcille is tackling with grace and purpose.
The beauty has come a long way from her crowning moment on season 3 of America’s Next Top Model, becoming a heavy hitter on both the big and small screens, especially with her role as the fierce Marilyn “Madam” DeVille on BET’s All The Queen’s Men. Now, she is conquering the stage, stepping into the role of Lyric (originated by Jada Pinkett-Smith) in Je’Caryous Johnson’s stage adaptation of the classic 90s love story, Jason’s Lyric.

With this role, Marcille joins a star-studded cast, including K. Michelle, Treach of Naughty by Nature, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, Victoria Rowell, and – of course – Allen Payne, reprising his role of Jason 30 years after the original film’s release. With this timeless tale of a tragic yet hopeful love story, Marcille brings a fresh perspective into the female lead role.
In this exclusive interview with Niecey Shaw, Marcille speaks on the positive atmosphere surrounding the production and what to expect when the show hits the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center on April 11th and 12th. We also get some tea on what to expect from the second half of season 4 of All The Queen’s Men, now that “Madam” is heading to trial!
