A winter storm watch has been issued as parts of north Georgia are expected to be hit with a wintry mix.

As reported by WSB-TV, the watch goes into effect Friday morning (Jan 10) and will last through early Saturday morning. Meteorologist Brian Monahan and Severe Weather Team 2 have been tracking the mix of snow, sleet, rain, and freezing rain.

“Expect accumulating snow and ice over much of the area, with some rain mixing in as well from the city southward. I expect difficult if not impossible travel over parts of our area later Friday into early Saturday,” Monahan says.
