Could we see freezing rain, sleet, or snow this weekend in north Georgia? Possibly.

WSB-TV’s Severe Weather Team is tracking the risk of wintry weather later this week as we are seeing cold, dry days through Thursday.

Meteorologist Brian Monahan says models are trending colder for Friday and Saturday. He also says that the risk of that wintry mix of snow, sleet, and rain Friday into early Saturday is increasing. However, it’s still too early to tell where the mix will hit and how much.

What we do know is that it will be cold and breezy this week, with highs reaching the lower 40s through Thursday. Clouds will increase on Thursday ahead of a developing winter storm over the western Gulf coast.

Friday has an 80% chance of that wintry mix, with highs in the mid-30s. On Saturday, we have a 40% chance of an early winter mix, then turning partly cloudy with a high of 40. WSB-TV forecasts that temperatures will start to slightly heat up on Monday, with a high of 48.
